BS"D
Engulfed by Purity
The B’nei Yissachar[1. Ma'amarei Elul, Maamar Alef, ois tes-vav.] writes, that the days of Elul have a special strength to purify us from any undesirable acts of the past.
The days of Elul – the days of Tshuva – are a total of forty days: from Rosh Chodesh Elul until Yom Kippur.
The number of hours in those forty days is 960 (40 x 24 = 960).
This number corresponds exactly to the number of "lug" (a liquid measurement) of water that are required to form a kosher mikva.
